Solange Knowles and her Damn Blog...

Solange Knowles is a Mother, sought after DJ, Photojournalist and entertainer in her own right.  Oh, she happens to be Beyonce Knowles' sister too.  But it's her innate skills that make her who she is.

MyDamnBlog.com chronicles her travels, fashion diary and adventures in motherhood.  It's so nice to see someone just doing their own thing, out of the shadows of someone else's life.  Kudos to Solange for just finding her own way!  I just think she's one cool chick!

Vera Wang Ready for her LA closeup!

It's official!
Very Wang is a bi-coastal lady.  Courtesy of January 2012 Harpers Bazaar we get a sneak peak inside her zen beauty.

Make no mistake about it.... Lady Wang is a bonifide New Yorker but she looks perfectly comfortable poised in her West Coast home.  I remember when she purchased this house.  I truly thought she would envelope more of a West Coast spanish vibe.  But truly, this property is a modernist dream.

Certainly she plans on dressing the Hollywood stars straight from her home.  Oh, she gets to write some of this house off for business expenses right?  Certainly less expensive than multiple stays at the Beverly Wilshire right.  This was a very wise investment, as certainly 'The House of Wang' will be dressing the starlets for many, many years to come.

When can I visit.  I just LOVE this house! Cannot wait to see who she dresses at tomorrow's Golden Globes.

Eva Zeisel Designer and Ceramic Artist 1906 - 2011

We mourn the loss of famed ceramist and artist Eva Zeisel, who passed last week.  Born in Hungary, Budapest she is world renowned for her sensual organic ceramic forms gracing homes worldwide.  Ms. Zeisel passed away at the age of 105.

Many of her pieces of the 1930's and 1940's graced modernist homes along side the furniture works of Charles and Ray Eames.  Their influences in design and the way we live, and the things we surrounds ourselves with remain strong today. Her work spanned nine decades.

Look at any West Elm or Crate and Barrel catalogue and the influences are strong and true.  She entered the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest with her sights set on studying painting.  However a visit to the Exposition Internationale des Arts, exhibiting the works of Le Corbusier changed all that, upon being introduced to the Bauhaus style.  By the late 1920's she was designing tableware.

Strangely enough while working in Moscow during the mid-1930's, Ms. Zeisel was falsely accused by a colleague of conspiring to assassinate Joseph Stalin.  Accused, arrested and jailed for 16 months which she called ' her darkest days.

Thankfully, we still have her legacy dancing in the light. Rest in Peace.

What's to come... 2012

Ahhh, the first week into a New Year and amazing things are already happening.  I've been on a mad, mad, wicked crazy journey in the world of interior design for many years now.

I've worked at Ralph Lauren designing countless flagship stores and showrooms, travelling more than 50% of my time, (which I ADORED!).  Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM), Revlon doing retail design and assisting on photo shoots.  Naomi Leff, working on homes for Tom Cruise, David Geffen and Steven Spielberg.  Kohn Pederson Fox Architects, John Saladino, The Office of Thierry Despont renovating Boca Raton Resort and several homes for Micky Drexler of J.Crew, and headed the Interior Design Studio for Giorgio Armani.  Oh, I almost forgot, designed residences for John Mayer, Adrien Brody, Leo DiCaprio and David Garrett too with more on the way!

Now my focus is on building my own business JMI and developing my writing projects.  So much lies before me.  The mission, which I have chosen to accept - 'Get it Done'.  I cannot wait to share new projects and adventures with you.

The people I have met, and continue to meet each share their passions with me and that rubs off, in the best way.  I continue to be inspired by design and its effect on people.  It starts conversations, and starts friendships.

Ever notice how, if you're just standing on a corner looking up at a building or chandelier, others stop and crane to see what it is you're looking at?  Eventually, someone will ask "what are you looking at"? and a conversation begins.  Sometime a lifelong friendship.  Well, yes it's happened to me on more than one occasion.

One thing I know for sure - 2012 will be nurtured, developed and loved.  Most important, I will continue paying homage to the readers of Hautezone and THANKING YOU for your continued support and readership!

So if you see or hear about something going on in New York, or somewhere I can get to and want to hear more about it, let me know.  I will do my best to report back and cover it.

It's going to be butter folks!  Let's enjoy the ride!  Buckle up, I'll save you a seat.

xoxoxo to the moon and back!

John Mayer on the range...

John Mayer has unfortunately been laying low, while he recovers from recent surgery on his throat.  While on the mend, he's been traveling the open range.  From the looks of these images, his eye is just as talented as his mending vocal chords (pun).

I say, he's got the potential to be the next Ansel Adams.  I cannot wait until, he hits the road again... this time to tour!  I love you John!  Let the music play.... and pack plenty of Ricola!
